Every year the Friends Women Fellowship picks a variety of projects to support or raise money for throughout the next twelve months. These are our current projects:
Hand's On Project # 1
- Collecting Stars -
We are asking every FWF to collect foil stars for the next year. Our missionaries in Africa use these for the children at our Vacation Bible Schools. The kids get such a big smile on their faces when they receive a star!  (Foil stars are available in the school supply sections of most stores, including Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Family Dollar and Dollar General.)We can never have too many stars!  Your group can mail your stars directly to Africa.

If you have stars, don’t hold on to them! You can mail them directly any time to Burundi to this address:

Hand's On Project # 2
- Collecting Beanie Babies -

Collect Beanie Babies or any other small plush animals to bring to the 2008 Retreat in Wichita.
No kidding! This is a really great way to find a good home for stuffed animals and Beanie Babies that might be collecting dust around your house. (You don't have to buy new ones - collect them from your house, garage sales or ask your friends.)  Plush toys are really easy for missionaries to carry with them and give to local kids who love them. These are better than small plastic toys which break easily. Kids treasure these animals. Start collecting now and bring them to Retreat in September 2008.

Hand's On Project # 3
- Create layette sets for new moms leaving the hospital. -

Most new mothers in Africa leave the hospital with virtually nothing to care for their babies with. We are asking FWF’s to work all year on creating layette sets in a bag! Take a large size ziplock bag and turn it into a take-home starter kit for a new mom. You can be as creative as you want, but try to make sure each bag contains the following items:

- a onesie or a sleeper

- a cloth diaper
(Remember they do not live
in a “disposable” world. They need items
they can wash out and reuse.)

- plastic pants

- burp and/or wash cloths

- a receiving blanket

- booties or socks

You can add other things like safety pins, rattles, a play outfit – whatever you want, there are exact requirements – but try to make each baggie a complete set.

A lot of women at retreat wanted a pattern so they could make their own onesies. You can get a pattern (and more information about things happening at our hospital in Kibimba) from
Lorna Long. Her phone number is

and her address is:

5166 S. Vine St, Wichita, KS, 67217.
